What identifies it
A Nebraska general bill of sale is only as good as the identifier on it. For general items that is the Serial number, if it has one, found wherever the manufacturer put it — a plate, a sticker or a stamping.

What to confirm with Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles
These are the questions whose answers genuinely differ from state to state and category to category. Take this list to their website or a field office:
- Is sales or use tax due on a private sale of goods in this state?
- Does the item have its own registration scheme — some states register things like firearms, livestock or aircraft separately.
- Is a written record required for the value involved, or only advisable?
- Must the seller file a release of liability or notice of transfer, and within how long?
